Rant

My five-year-old daughter, tonight, at the end of a long rant:
"Dad, you're just not providing me with the pleasant life I want."
Oh.

Don't know what I can add to that. It is, after all, my role in life to make her miserable. Or so she tells me.

Good job, Dad!

Yowza -- yeah, it sucks to be a brilliant, healthy child with two loving parents who are gainfully employed, living in one of the most fabulous places on the planet.

Ah, well, who has any perspective when they're five? (Another danger age is 19: I was engaged to someone when I was 19, and it was a Bad Idea.)

Did I mention that the four adults in the room were doing all we could not to roll on the floor during all this? The soliloquy must have gone on for half an hour. It was priceless.
